My Cinque Terre Sanctuary

Hey fellow adventurers, let me share a little secret with you – Levanto stole my heart. Nestled along the breathtaking Ligurian coast, this charming town isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling, a vibe, a slice of authentic Italy that will stay with you long after you’ve left. Let me take you on a journey through Levanto, and you’ll see why it’s more than just a stopover – it’s an experience.

Budget Bliss:

Levanto welcomed me with open arms, offering a range of affordable accommodations that felt like home. I stayed at Ostello Levanto, a hostel located in an old hospital converted into accommodation. Despite its historical roots, the hostel was modern and comfortable, with spacious dormitories and cozy common areas. Thank goodness there was an elevator; I even got lost trying to find my room the first time I arrived. But once settled, it became a cozy haven that set the tone for my entire Cinque Terre adventure.

Authentic Vibes, Less Touristy Bustle:

Wandering through Levanto’s streets felt like stepping back in time, where locals shared stories and laughter echoed through the alleyways. It was a refreshing change from the tourist crowds, a glimpse into a life lived at a slower pace. The town’s authenticity was evident in its bustling market squares, where vendors sold fresh produce and local delicacies, and in its family-run trattorias, where generations-old recipes were lovingly prepared and served.

Cinque Terre at Your Doorstep:

Levanto was my gateway to the iconic Cinque Terre villages, just a short train ride away. As I journeyed from Levanto to Monterosso, each passing moment revealed the stunning beauty of the coast, a prelude to the adventures that awaited me. The train ride itself was a scenic delight, with panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea on one side and lush vineyards on the other.

Adventure Awaits – Hike from Levanto:

Levanto was where my Cinque Terre adventure began, starting with the famous Monterosso to Vernazza hike. The trail was not just a path; it was a journey through landscapes that took my breath away, with Levanto as my starting point and sanctuary. The hike was challenging but rewarding, with each twist and turn revealing a new panoramic vista of the rugged coastline and colorful villages below.  This hike is an absolute must-do on any visit to Cinque Terre- whether or not you choose Levanto as your accommodation.

Beach Bliss:

Levanto’s sandy beach was my sanctuary, a place to unwind and soak in the Mediterranean sun. Unlike the crowded beaches of Cinque Terre, Levanto’s beach offered a peaceful retreat, a moment of tranquility amidst my travels. I spent lazy afternoons here, reading a book, taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters, and watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of orange and pink. Levanto offers both a paid and a free beach. . I stuck to the public option, being an extremely budget-conscious traveller. Obviously, the private beach was more picturesque, yet the free beach still managed to satisfy my beach cravings. I think it’s probably hard to go wrong with any beach along the Ligurian coastline!!

Amazing Hostels Await:

Staying in Ostello Levanto was an experience in itself, where travelers from around the world came together to share their adventures. The hostel wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was a community, a family away from home. I made friends from different corners of the globe, bonded over shared experiences, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Levanto, with its blend of affordability, authenticity, and adventure, captured my heart in a way no other place has. Every moment spent in Levanto was magical, a chapter in my travel story that I’ll cherish forever. So, when you’re planning your Cinque Terre getaway, consider Levanto – where every corner is a discovery, every experience is a treasure, and every day is a new adventure. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Happy travels! 🌄🌊
